If you own a vape and you’re interested in vaping CBD oil, then there is definitely a chance that it is possible! In this article we will be discussing what CBD oil is, which products you can use it in, how to make your own CBD vape oil and how to use it in other devices.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil (Cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid. This is a chemical compound that acts throughout the body, including on certain parts of the brain. It is becoming increasingly popular in the health world. CBD oil comes from the cannabis plant; however, unlike its counterpart, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is responsible for the ‘high’ from cannabis, CBD, derived from the hemp plant, is non-intoxicating. CBD has been proven to have many health and wellness benefits. Once extracted from the cannabis plant, it is often diluted with a carrier such as olive or coconut oil – this improves its bioavailability and is now ingestible.

Many people use it in their cooking or as a food supplement, however, some users prefer to ingest the oil through inhalation and choose to vape the CBD oil. If you are on of these people who would like to vape CBD oil but just need to figure out how, then it’s very important that you keep reading. At Nectar, we two different types of CBD vape oils including broad spectrum CBD vape oil.

How to Vape CBD Oil

Before we get into all the technicalities of how to vape CBD oil, we first need to understand which type of CBD oil you can vape and which ones you can’t, as it can be quite dangerous and damaging if you are not using it correctly.

Using the Right Type of CBD Oil

As mentioned before, it is extremely important to understand that CBD oil and CBD vape oil are two very different things! Mixing them up is a recipe for disaster. CBD oil is edible. You can place a few drops directly into your mouth, some even drop it into their food, tea, or other drinks. If you don’t expose it to heat higher than 160℃, you can even cook with it. However, you cannot vape it.

Edible CBD oil will burn in a vaporizer, losing its potency, while also ruining your device, and leaving you with a very bad taste in your mouth. CBD vape oil, however, is for vaping only. It’s placed in a carrier liquid, such as PG and VG which are both commonly used in e-liquids. These enable the oil to be vaporized effectively without losing its potency and without burning, therefore also not damaging your device.

It is critical that you never eat or cook with CBD vape oil as it’s not designed for ingestion, and that you also never vape CBD oil as it is not designed for vaping and will damage your device.

How to Vape CBD Vape Oil

Now that we have distinguished the difference between CBD oil and CBD vape oil, we can move onto how to actually vape it! If you are using a device that is similar to the Nectar Hive or Nectar HoneyBee, then you will be refilling empty cartridges yourself.

To do this, you can either purchase a ready made CBD vape oil, or you can make the vape oil yourself. If you are using a ready made CBD vape oil, then simply open up your empty pod/cartridge, use your syringe to load up the necessary amount of vape oil, then transfer and diffuse it into the empty pod/cartridge. Once you have filled it almost full, you can put the lid back on or close the pod/cartridge and you are good to go!

If you would prefer not to refill the cartridges yourself then you can purchase a pre-filled CBD vape oil cartridge and use that in your vaporizer if it is compatible.

How to Make CBD Cartridges

Unfortunately, as we discovered earlier, it is not possible to vape CBD oil, only CBD vape oil can be vaped. However, this does not mean that you cannot make your own CBD vape oil/juice. If you are planning on making your own CBD vape oil/juice, then set your CBD oil to the side and leave that for ingesting purposes only. To make your own CBD vape oil/juice, you will need the following…

Some people may choose to add nicotine e-liquid into this juice too, however, we recommend that you don’t as first of all it has many negative health impacts. Also, secondly, nicotine e-liquid is known to degrade CBD, which will reduce the effects of it, resulting in ultimately just wasting your CBD and money.

Step by Step Process…

Now that you have all of your ingredients and equipment ready, you need to…

  1. Fill your large pan full of boiling water and keep it on the heat. Leave it on a low heat level so that the water slowly simmers. Add your VG & PG into your beaker. If this is your first time then use 50/50 of each, if you’re a pro then do as you please. Then carefully place the beaker of oil into the hot water.

(Note: CBD sometimes doesn’t stay in the solution if the VG ratio is too high, so keep this in mind – the more you try this process out the better feel you will get for what works best for you.)

  1. Keep stirring the liquid until it reaches 60℃ – this is the optimum temperature for CBD to bins with VG & PG. Measure out your CBD to your ideal concentration. We recommend that you try to work out the concentration in mg’s per 10ml of liquid so that you don’t overdo it.

Add the CBD isolate/concentrate to the warm liquid and make sure that you keep stirring the liquid until the CBD is fully dissolved and blended in – this part can take anywhere from 10 minutes up to an hour. It is key to be patient. Keep checking your thermometer throughout this time to maintain a steady temperature of 60℃.

  1. As soon as the CBD is dissolved, you can take the vape juice beaker out of the water (carefully) and leave it to cool down. Once the juice is cool, you can now add anything else you wish to your CBD vape juice! You may want to add some terps, or you may want to leave it as it is, the choice is yours!

Again, as mentioned earlier in the pre-made CBD juice, just follow those steps to transfer your oil/juice to your cartridge/pod and you are good to go.
