Cannabis is an incredibly versatile plant that has a huge number of recreational, medicinal, and even industrial uses. Perhaps the most impressive thing about this plant, though, is the number of ways it can be administered. From traditional smoking and edibles to skincare, vaping, and capsules, there truly is something for everyone. What many people don’t realise, however, is that you can actually get two uses out of the same cannabis product – that is, you can make delicious and effective cannabis cakes with the leftovers from your dry herb vaporizer! Dry Herp Vaporizers have become increasingly popular in recent years as more people look for a healthier alternative to smoking. But that isn’t the only benefit of Dry Herb Vaporizers. Vaping your cannabis is also better for the environment, and is much better value than smoking – after all, you can get two uses out of your product. As we mentioned earlier, dry herb vaporizers have become popular among medicinal and health-conscious recreational users alike. In fact, in many countries where medical cannabis has been legalised – including the UK – it is not recommended that cannabis be smoked at all for medicinal purposes. Instead, prescribers recommend the use of Dry Herb Vaporizers for those using cannabis flower products. The reason for this is the obvious health risks associated with smoking.
Smoking cannabis involves the complete combustion of the plant – a process that releases a high number of toxic chemicals, including carcinogens. The same can be said of smoking tobacco and most other types of plant matter. Once these by-products are released, they are inhaled into your body where they can cause significant damage. Fortunately, alternatives like dry herb vaporizers offer an effective and much safer alternative. Vaporizers allow you to unlock the cannabinoids and terpenes found in cannabis without combusting the plant material. This means that you can enjoy all of the benefits without having to worry about harmful and toxic chemicals entering your body in the form of smoke.
So, now we know that dry herb vaporizers are indeed believed to be a much healthier alternative to smoking – but how do they actually work?
Well, like smoking, vaping works by applying heat to your cannabis flower; however, the important difference is the amount of heat applied. While lighting a cannabis joint can apply heating up to 1500°C, dry herb vaporizers use much lower temperatures. For example, our selection of dry herb vaporizers start with temperatures as low as 140°C and maximum temperatures of 240°C! This might sound low – and it is, when compared with temperatures reached when smoking – but that is far from a bad thing.
The vast majority of cannabinoids and terpenes (and other active ingredients) present in your cannabis have a boiling point far below the maximum temperature of 240°C. In fact, the boiling point of THC is around 157°C, whereas CBD is a little higher at somewhere between 160-180°C. It’s crazy then, that smoking applies around 20x these temperatures – yes, the evaporation of cannabinoids is achieved, but so too is the complete destruction of your product.
Alternatively, the lower temperatures utilised in vaping means you are able to release cannabinoids like CBD and THC, alongside a variety of naturally-occurring terpenes, without releasing harmful chemicals and destroying your cannabis flower in the process. When your cannabis flower is placed in the heating chamber of your dry herb vaporizer, you have full control over the temperatures applied. This control allows you to truly make the most of your cannabis flower, extracting cannabinoids and terpenes in an incredibly efficient and satisfying manner with ease.
But not only does vaping allow you to get more value out of your cannabis with your dry herb vaporizer, it also gives you the option to reuse the flower material that has already been used.

You might be amazed to hear that you can get a second use out of your already-vaped cannabis; after all, the brownish, grain-like remains from the heating chamber of your dry herb vaporizer doesn’t necessarily look like the most abundant or rich cannabis, right? But don’t be fooled by its appearance; this heated cannabis still has plenty of life left – and what better way to make the most of it than making some delicious edibles?
As we stated earlier, the boiling point of THC is much lower than the temperatures applied through smoking. It should be no surprise that smoked cannabis is usually unusable. But vaporized cannabis is different. The lower temperatures applied when using a dry herb vaporizer helps to maintain the integrity of not only the plant, but the compounds found within it. Don’t get us wrong, much of the THC will have been effectively evaporated and inhaled when you used your dry herb vaporizer; but often, not all of it has.
This gives you the option to put your cooking apron on, get your oven gloves out, and get creative. These brownish remnants of your cannabis flower are perfect for infusing foods, including baking cakes. So, how do you make a cannabis cake using leftover cannabis from your dry herb vaporizer?
If you have ever made cannabis edibles in the traditional way, with fresh cannabis flower, then you won’t discover anything new here; however, if you are new to cannabis edibles, don’t worry – making a delicious and effective cannabis cake with the remains from your dry herb vaporizer couldn’t be easier. If you are still worried about how your cannabis cake will turn out, just remember: you are simply using up already-used cannabis that would otherwise be thrown away. So, if something goes wrong, it doesn’t matter all that much – you can always try again next time!
The first step when using cannabis for cooking is to infuse either an oil or butter that will be used in your cake. While both butter and oil can be effectively infused, if it’s your first time, you may feel more comfortable opting for an oil (coconut oil is great for this). This is because oils tend to have a higher smoking point than butter. This makes butter tend to burn more easily and at lower temperatures. But anyway, whatever oil or butter you decide to use, remember to start on a low temperature.
When you have removed your cannabis flower from your dry herb vaporizer, it is a good idea to grind it down further. This increases the surface area of the buds, making it easier to extract the cannabinoids and other active ingredients that remain after vaping. Make sure you have something to strain the oil with once you have cooked your cannabis. Good options for this include fine sieves and even cheese cloth. Once you’re set up – it’s time to infuse your oil. Instead of using cannabis you can use CBD if you would prefer to not have the psychoactive effects of THC. You can do this by adding CBD isolates or crumbles to your recipes.
It is generally recommended that you use the same volume of cannabis to oil. Simply measure your cannabis in a cup measure once it has been removed from your dry herb vaporizer and then measure the same volume of oil!
Start by putting your chosen oil in a pan and warming it on the stove. Once your oil has begun to warm through, it’s time to add your vaporized cannabis. Before you do this, make sure that your oil is not too hot – you should still be able to touch the oil without burning yourself. You will begin to slowly increase the temperature once the dried flower has been added to avoid burning the product too quickly. This could lead to diminishing the remaining cannabinoids and terpenes rather than infusing them into your oil. Be sure to continue stirring your oil every couple of minutes and keep this up for about an hour.
Finally, allow your newly infused cannabis oil cool for at least 20 minutes before you strain it – and voila! You’re ready to move onto the next step of your cannabis cake making.
So, you have already had a great cannabis experience with the help of your dry herb vaporizer, and now you have successfully infused your chosen cooking oil with the remaining cannabinoids from the vaped cannabis; not bad! But now for the fun (and delicious) part. It really doesn’t matter what kind of baked goods you opt for – your cannabis cooking oil will work for practically any cake, cookie, or brownie, so use your imagination. Simply choose a recipe that takes your fancy and get ready to give it a cannabis makeover.
Once you have decided on your cake and have prepared all your ingredients, it really couldn’t be simpler. All you need to do is follow the recipe, replacing standard cooking oil with your new cannabis infusion. If you have a little too much oil for the recipe, you can consider making two batches; or add more of the dry ingredients until you achieve the consistency you are looking for. Finally, all that there is left to do is bake!
This might seem like the easy part, but there are some things you should be aware of. As we mentioned earlier, all of the active ingredients contained within your cannabis have a certain boiling point. Remember how we talked about the reason for the relatively low temperature settings on your dry herb vaporizer? If your product is exposed to temperatures above their boiling point, they will be diminished before you are able to benefit from them. It is, therefore, imp
ortant to avoid using temperatures that exceed these boiling points.
Again, as we touched upon earlier, the boiling point of THC is around 157°C – so you don’t really want to expose your cake to temperatures higher than this. If your recipe calls for a higher temperature, instead leave your cake in the oven for longer until the bake is complete.
So, there you have it. Not only have you baked a delicious cannabis-infused cake – you have done it with cannabis that would otherwise have been thrown away. The final – and potentially the most fun – part left to do is enjoy your cannabis cake. Just bear in mind that cannabis edibles usually take significantly longer to take effect due to the metabolism of your body. Therefore, it is a good idea to only eat small quantities at a time and always wait to be sure of the effects before you consume more. It is also essential to note that the effects associated with cannabis edibles last much longer than other forms of administration (even up to 8 hours); so, make sure you have plenty of time to come around!
The benefits of adopting a dry herb vaporizer as an alternative to smoking really are amazing.
